Marine R507 is a blend of HFC refrigerants commonly used in marine refrigeration systems for its high efficiency and low environmental impact. Marine R507 Refrigerant is a blend of R125 (50%) and R143a (50%), classified as an A1 (non-flammable, low toxicity) refrigerant. It has a boiling point of -46.7°C (-52.1°F) at atmospheric pressure and a critical temperature of 70.9°C (159.6°F). Its molecular weight is approximately 98.86 g/mol, with a density of 1.15 kg/m³ (gas, 15°C) and 1,060 kg/m³ (liquid, 25°C). The viscosity ranges from 0.012 mPa·s (gas) to 0.18 mPa·s (liquid). R507 is buoyant in air due to its higher density than air (1.2 kg/m³). It is compatible with common refrigeration materials like copper, steel, and aluminum but not with natural rubber or butyl seals. Typical system sizes range from small commercial units to large industrial applications, with pressure ratings up to 30 bar (435 psi).
